& Vision
NEFA
unites installers, manufacturers, suppliers, and industry experts to safeguard
the interests of our members and the public. We work closely with government
agencies to uphold safety and compliance standards in our industry. Our main
objective is to simplify the issuance and verification of Certificates of
Compliance, promoting safety and security for all.
NEFA
aims to establish a centralized database where every electric fence Certificate
of Compliance can be easily verified through a QR-code. This database will be
managed by accredited electric fence system installers registered with the
Department of Employment and Labour. Our goal is for all electric fences to
comply with relevant regulations and standards, including the Occupational
Health and Safety Act, Good Installation Practices document, and National
Installation Guidelines (SANS 10222-3, SANS 10222-4, and SANS 60335-2-76). We
also plan to conduct audits on a significant percentage of Certificates of
Compliance to ensure adherence to these standards.
NEFA
is dedicated to supporting accredited electric fence system installers in
enhancing their skills through Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
points.
Leadership and Expertise at NEFA
NEFA benefits from the leadership of a team of seasoned professionals committed to advancing the electric fence industry. Three of the directors collectively possess over 65 years of experience in electric fence installation. Beyond their extensive practical expertise, these directors have been actively engaged with the T68 workgroup 1 on electric fencing since 2011. This committee, guided by the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS), is responsible for developing the SANS 10222-3 and SANS 10222-4 standards that shape industry practices. In addition to this technical leadership, NEFA’s fourth director is a qualified accountant with more than 30 years of experience in the financial sector. This ensures that NEFA's operations are grounded not only in technical proficiency but also in sound financial management.
NEFA's goal is to empower
decision-makers with information and expertise needed to make the right choices
when it game to electric fence.
